Interviews with Victoria: Jared from Anabel Divided by Amanda Romine Lynch

Victoria: Today I'm welcoming Jared. I've had the pleasure of interviewing his friend, erm... baby's momma, in the past. Now he's agreed to submit to my couch. *winks*. If everyone would kindly give him a wide berth, I've heard he captivates women with little more than a smile. 

I don't want to give him a chance to deploy his female devastation tactics so I'll start off with the first question straight away. Would you rather be caught with your pants around your ankles or tied naked to a pole?

Jared: Definitely pants around ankles. Not like it hasn't happened before.I prefer to have my hands free. I don't like to cede control that easily.

Victoria: Then this is probably the wrong room for you because I don't easily cede control either. *smirks* Outside of the bedroom, are you a love at first sight or love is for suckers type of person?

Jared: I don't believe in love at first sight, because you can't see everything you need to see at first sight. Most circumstances warrant a second look. And if you're asking about Anabel, I definitely didn't find her attractive the first time I saw her. She was too much--too much messy hair, too snobby, too spoiled. What I didn't see at first--her sweetness, vulnerability, and brilliance--were not revealed to me until later.

Victoria: Wow! After everything I heard I didn't expect you to be so introspective, and worth mentioning I didn't mean anyone specific. The question was general, but since you brought her up then I'll take it you love her. Enough of the sappy business, let's play a word game. When I say the word 'masticle' what do you think it means?

Jared: Initially I thought it was something goats did. Then I looked it up. Is that really a thing?

Victoria: You'd be surprised what's 'really a thing' in my world. Of course, I know several people who'd be happy to show you all sorts of things. Just give me the word. Speaking of that, what's the kinkiest thing sexually you've ever done?

Jared: Victoria, I'm appalled. You don't seem like the kind to kiss and tell, so why should I? That being said, there was this one time with a few interns that I am not proud of. Yes. A few. *clears throat*

Victoria: There's the disreputable man I've heard so much about and you're right, I don't kiss and tell, but I'm willing to beat answers out of someone. I limit those beating to one person now, such a shame. You look like you have plenty of secrets brimming underneath the surface. I won't keep you much longer otherwise we both might do something we'll regret. Tell readers in 1 sentence why your book is what they need?

Jared: It's the story of how I fell in love with the person I wronged irreparably, and how she ruined me for other women. So, you know. Light reading.

With a flair for the intelligent and dramatic, Anabel is a bit like Alice and chasing her down the rabbit hole is a little too much fun.  - I was against this from the start. Completely. My lovely fem-dom, Victoria, vehemently requested I allow her to start interviewing characters from other books. 
- I told her other characters might find her intimidating and she had to keep things focused on the book. We'll see how well this goes. Without further ado:

Welcome to Landra's Blog! She's letting me have a little fun and I'm so happy to have you here today, Anabel. 

Thanks for having me, Victoria. It's a pleasure. I think.

Let's not beat around with weeping willows. I already know that you've started scandals a plenty, but the true question is do you prefer missionary or doggie-style? And yes, I mean sexual position. 

Are you going to ask what kind of underwear I sport next? I find that both positions are useful at different moments. And I don't start scandals; they find me and drag me in.

Interesting, and if you had to describe your ideal man in three words? 

Dr. Richard Carrington. My Romanticism professor. No? Fine. Smart. Sexy. Literate.

 *Laughs* 

All good traits in a man, though I prefer mine submissive too. Also, I like your attitude and since you mentioned it, what kind of underwear do you sport? 

Why, you want to see?

*Pulls skirt a little to check* 

They are purple. My evil ex-sister-in-law bought them for me.

Nice. I'm a fan of red myself. *lifts shirt and pulls on the strap of a red thong* 

Alright, now the tough question. If you were asked right now to choose between the two who would you pick. Matt, your current man, or Jared, who I've heard is a natural flirt, but dangerous to a girl's sanity? 

*whispers* Feel free to give me juicy details. 

Choose between them for what? *eyeroll* And why, do you want me to put in a good word for you with Jared? Don't really know if he's your type.

If I was still single, I'd take you up on that offer. But really, you're doing a wonderful job of not actually answering any of my questions. So, Anabel is your entire story a bunch of misdirection and flip flop?

I suppose you make a good point. But I what I say doesn't matter much, does it? You only see what you want to.

What do you think of the book title? Did your author have it right, are you divided? 

I didn't agree with her at first, but I seldom do. She saw what I didn't want to see, though. So yes. It was an apt assessment. Things are different now, though.

Do you care to elaborate? Or should I offer incentive?

What kind of incentive? I don't need to see your thong again.

I'll beat anyone you want. As long as they agree to it, but I've heard about the people you know. Masochists for sure. *winks*

*laughs* I think I like you. The author and I argue a great deal because I never do what she thinks I should. She was also displeased with my choices this time around and does not hesitate to point out when things are my fault. And then she wonders why we argue...

And that ladies and gents is why you should read Anabel Divided. There's faults, blame, two hot guys, and plenty of hanky panky without the beatings. I may have exaggerated on that last part. *winks*

Guest Post +Release Day: Many Strange Women by Parker J. Cole

So the last few days have been dedicated to Contemporary Romance. Today we're switching gears to welcome Parker J. Cole and her inspirational romance Many Strange Women. Before we talk shop, Parker has a few words on her 'rise from the slushpile'. 

Take it away Parker !

I think the word 'slush' isn't the right word I want to use in this journey on the road to publishing. The word is 'remains'. The remains of a poor helpless animal bitten by numerous bears that nipped at my flesh and left my carcass lying there in a heap in the middle of the forest floor.

Yeah, ‘remains' is a good word. 

That is exactly how it felt on this road to publishing. There I was-a lithe, agile deer with my dreams of publishing my book a simple, seemingly attainable idea. All I would do is present my work to the first publisher and I would get recognized in an instant. With my trusty rabbit--er, um agent, who's a smooth talker and faster than I with negotiating the trail, we set off. The first publisher we came across bit gently into my hind leg. It hurt but she didn't draw blood and I still had my pride. We continued forward on the trail. Some publishers never responded. Others swatted at us like nuisance flies. Still others roared at me like I was a lunatic. Each rejection that came cut at me in some way. Pretty soon, I was a dragging myself along the trail, head down, self-confidence somewhere behind me on the forest floor.

Yet, through this journey, my agent never stopped believing in me. My family knew it would happen and told me to be patient. My mate pushed me back up with his antlers and told me quit tripping out. The mate's never been good at soft encouraging words. I remember one rejection was particularly cutting to the point where I looked down at myself and wondered, "What in the world was I thinking!" When it finally happened, when a publisher offered me a contract, I was not the whole, lithe agile deer I had started out. In fact, my body was riddled with holes from the bears that scratched at my pride and belief. In fact, by the time it happened, when my turn for yes finally came, I did not believe it.

I learned some important things on the journey:
--Each rejection that tore into me created a wound. But let me tell you, wounds heal.
--The writer's journey does not have to be a lonely one. Always bring your friends and family with you.
--Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Ain't that the truth?
--Do not give up. Ever.

Those are excellent pieces of advice for the journey. My favorite would be number three. Something I live by every day. Now for more about Many Strange Women:

Funday Monday: December 3, 2012

It's the first Monday of December and there's only 22 shopping days left until the big holiday of the year is here! Does that stress you out?

Not me because this year all my stress is reserved for a few other things, including that possibility, albeit small one, that the world is ending in a couple of weeks. Mayan calendar insanity and all that jazz. If we are going to die, then farewell friends. In the meantime check out some awesome things you can buy as Christmas presents. That's right I'm pimping books, and my delightful Dessert Islanders works are up for grabs. 

5.) College bound and scared witless? Look no further then Dr. Nancy Berk. She's popular, hilarious and not to mention a good does of intelligence. Her book, College Bound and Gagged, talks about how to come through the college years without going broke. Whether you're the parent or the student looking for financing it can't hurt to explore the options without falling asleep. Non-fiction doesn't do it for me most of the time, but I love Nancy and she makes a gal laugh. I learn more with humor. Check out her book here, and her website for more her here. 

4.) Ever feel like you were meant for more? Don't say no, just say yes! The women in Jennifer Harris Dault's latest compilation did. Jennifer is amazeballs and has assembled a non-fiction book, The Modern Magnificat,  chronicling the stories of 23 women who received the 'call' to minister. This surrounds Baptist women, and is a wonderful, moving read. Dault presents the stories from the women themselves versus editing content to fit her own personal opinions. Again a non-fiction piece, but worth the time if you're looking for some uplifting and inspirational. You can learn more about the book here and can purchase this work here. 

3.) I'm always looking for new friends... sometimes you can find them running. Or at least that's how readers feel about Jennifer Luitwieler. Her book, Run With Me: An Accidental Runner and the Power of Poo, released in 2011, is anything but a guide on who to become a runner. You would think it's some funny, anecdotal storytelling about marathon experiences. In fact it's the complete opposite. It's about getting older and finding out that you forgot who you were, and then finding your self once more. Sharing stories that remind you of how to find yourself and each person has a different story. It's an easy read and you'll find yourself getting involved from the first page. 2.) Marriage and Parenthood are scary business. No one knows this best then my buddy Chad. He's a regular crack-up, the funny guy of the Dessert Islanders. His short, and whimsical memoir, Night Marriage, is currently available for pre-order right now. He's also an awesome musician, and a creative artist! I like to refer to him as the creative-jack-of-all. Whether toting the latest in musical heaven or regaling us with humorous tales of his journey's through, Chad does everything with a smile. 1.) Finally, some fiction! My other Dessert Islander buddy Amanda Romaine Lynch is celebrating release day! YAY *Kermit Arm Jiggle* This book, Anabel Unraveled is definitely two parts thriller and one part political craziness. We've got a girl who is seventeen and definitely living a life of hell or, at least, it's hell in her mind. There's congressional hearings, spies, and top secret islands. I haven't had the moment to wrap my grubby paws on it since I'm working today, and it release this morning. But soon readers I will consume, and quite possible review.
